Brazilian International Congress of Medical Students – BRAINCOMS, is a life-changing experience for yourself and your academic life; an event at which medical school students from all over the world are able to present their scientific projects, share ideas and knowledge on a large variety of subjects. It is opportunity for learning from amazing internationally renowned keynote speakers, practicing your skills at hands-on workshops, building up networks with other medical students from around the world, getting in touch withsensitization activities and much more. All of this in an engaging atmosphere with receptive people, sense of humour, outstanding scientific quality and, why not, great social events!

Our congress was founded late in 2011 by a group of medical school students at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo – Escola Paulista de Medicina (UNIFESP-EPM), who had previously attended world-renowned international congresses throughout the world, where they could experience and witness the exchange of ideas amongst students from diverse backgrounds. This exchange was not only scientifically relevant, but also culturally and socially beneficial. These experiences then served as a source of inspiration and were responsible for bringing the initiative to Latin America. Our goal is to do the same and inspire others. We aim to keep up with the creation of groundbreaking scientific programs associated with the humanization of medical practice and volunteer work programs, as well as to provide engaging social activities that will boost up the interaction among students and we also intend to exhibit our beautiful and resourceful country and our dazzling culture. Each and every little detail is being carefully thought out to allow an easy flow of knowledge sharing, communication and networking.

The fifth edition of BRAINCOMS will be held on October , 20th – 22th , 2016, at our very own Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), in São Paulo, Brazil

In sum, BRAINCOMS has everything to add to your personal and medical formation; you couldn’t spend these days in a better way. So what are you waiting for? Be a part of it!

“Facing Antimicrobial Resistance – Research Revolution wanted” with this topic the 27th European Student’s Conference will focus on one of the biggest problems in present health care and infection treatment.

Over the past years growing antimicrobial resistance has become a global issue, requiring a global response. Our aim is to induce lively discussions on how to deal with this progress and how to avoid an ongoing.

We will ask questions like: What leads to antimicrobial resistance and where are we, future doctors and scientists, able to intervene? Which therapy methods can be alternatives to antibiotics and which role will they play for our daily work with bacterial infections? How can we, as young professionals, change the usage of antibiotics and what adjustment is necessary?

Interdisciplinary experts will support us in analyzing the current situation and present new international research and solving approaches.

At the ESC, we believe that our pool of talented young medical scientists from across the world can induce a fruitful scientific exchange and, with that, make a decisive contribution towards achieving this goal.

This year’s ESC will take place from 28th September to 1st of October 2016 at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Campus Virchow Klinikum, Berlin-Wedding), one of the largest university hospitals in Europe and one of Germany’s most research-intensive medical institutions.

Get inspired by the range of research and be a flagship of innovation with us! We are looking forward to exciting and unforgettable days with you in the great city of Berlin!

The iMed Conference is a congress for medical and life sciences’ students, organized by the Students’ Union of NOVA Medical School | Faculdade de Ciências Médicas. With seven successful editions so far, we have managed to inspire and motivate more that two thousand Portuguese and international students (725 only in our last edition), by providing the audience, each year, with a variety of highly selected lectures on the latest breakthroughs in investigation.

The iMed Conference 8.0 – Lisbon 2016 is taking place between 13th and 16th October 2016. In its 8th edition, once again reunites some of the greatest minds in Medicine, to present their work regarding four topics we believe can change the future in health care – Neonatology, Rehabilitation in Ageing, Oncology and Psychiatry –, thus opening doors for the sharing and the debate of innovative ideas. Furthermore, we will be honoured with the presence of Professor Michael Bishop, awarded with the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1989 for the discovery of the cellular origin of retroviral oncogenes, and Sir Roy Calne, pioneer in the field of transplantation, awarded with the Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award in 2012. In order to stimulate the participants in the acquisition of medical skills, the iMed Conference is proud to provide them with practical and dynamic Workshops, concerning both clinical and surgical Medicine. “Hands-on” is the intended concept, which involves experimenting and contacting with subjects which are not part of the regular programme of medical schools.

As on the previous editions, the participants will also have the opportunity to take part in several competitions; volunteering programs in several countries, 12.000€ in grants for basic and translational research and internships at the research facilities of one of the previous speakers, are the prizes up for grabs.

Alongside with our scientific agenda, we offer the participants the chance to experience our social programme while getting to know Portuguese culture, places of interest and, hopefully, the sunny Portuguese weather.
