WHO WE ARE

The International conference for Healthcare and Medical Students is Ireland’s first student led conference, founded at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 2010. Our annual international conference is organized by a group of full-time students studying in the healthcare field at RCSI in Dublin, Ireland. This year, our organizing committee consists of 33 members ranging from first year to final year students.

ICHAMS inspires students to pursue and publish their research, all while partaking in our engaging social program and learning through our hands on workshops.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

In 2010, a small group of RCSI students founded ICHAMS. Since our first edition, our conference has grown from under 100 delegates to where we are today – over 700 in the last three editions with participants from over 34 countries. Abstracts presented at ICHAMS have also been published in the BMC Proceedings since 2011.

TARGET AUDIENCE

We welcome both undergraduate and graduate students studying in any healthcare field – including physiotherapy, pharmacy, and medicine. Students who wish to develop their research and presentation skills, network with like-minded peers and professionals, and learn from world leaders in small group workshops or during our keynote lectures will find ICHAMS an inspiring environment. Students who currently don’t have research ready to present, are welcome to join us as passive participants and will have full access to the three-day conference.

OUR MISSION

  • To provide undergraduate and graduate healthcare students the opportunity to present their research findings in an international setting with structured feedback;

  • To provide a platform for career development and to help develop the clinician scientists of the future;

  • To promote interactions among healthcare students from different countries and the exchange of research knowledge and experiences;

  • To promote and encourage innovative thinking by exposing students to current cutting-edge research topics;

  • To educate healthcare students on the importance of research in the broader medical fields and expose students to future research opportunities.
